April 2024 President’s Letter

What a wonderful 2023-2024 Season we have had so far. We had a great turn for Senior Open held at Peak Bowl. We had 37 teams, 82 sets of doubles and 164 singles. We thank you all for bowling and from what I saw there were some good scores bowled this year.

We are currently heading into the second and final weekend of City Open held at Harmony. As of today we have 58 teams; 142 sets of doubles; and 284 singles. Last year we had 53 teams, so we are already 5 teams ahead of last year. We are glad to see our members coming back on the lanes. Good luck this weekend to all the remaining bowlers.

On April 28th we will hold our Senior Masters at Thunder Alley on Fort Carson. Calling all Senior Talent sign up if you have not yet. There is still time for YOU to sign up. Remember the winner wins an Entry into the National USBC Senior Masters. Everyone who is not a Senior if you get a chance come out and watch some great talent out on the lanes.

The Colorado State USBC Open I being held right here in Colorado Springs. Team event is at King Pin and Doubles/Singles event is at Harmony. The dates are May 4th through June 2nd . With it being right here at home no travel necessary, so go get your entry in and show how much the members of PPUSBC love our sport.

As our winter leagues come to an end, I want to remind all Secretaries to make sure you are getting in your awards into the association so we can get bowlers their goodies. I also want to remind you to submit your final average no later than 15 days after your league ends. We will soon start to see our Summer leagues starting so Secretaries please remember to get those League Applications submitted no later than 4 weeks after league starts.

Don’t forget with Summer approaching to keep those youth busy as well. There are several youth summer leagues, and some houses even have unsanctioned youth/adult leagues so you can keep your game in line while helping our youth earn scholarship money.

The Pikes Peak USBC Annual Meeting will be on June 29th, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Library on North Union. I encourage everyone to attend our local association meeting as we will be voting on 1 Vice President, 5 board directors and 4 youth directors. We will also be going over any updates that may have come up from the National Convention that is being held April 22nd – April 25th in Las Vegas. We will also be going over any updates that happened at the Colorado State USBC annual meeting that will be held on June 15th, 2024 at the Holiday Inn Lakewood.

In closing we would like to congratulate Colorado Springs very own Dana Ausec on being named Senior Bowler of the Year along with her induction into the Colorado State USBC on August 3rd, 2024. Come out to Holiday Inn Lakewood and help celebrate her accomplishments. You can get more
information on the Colorado USBC website that is easily accessed through pikespeakusbc.com.

Happy Bowling and High Scores!
